My Brother

Ever since that day,
in early October,
When I thought I got my way,
And had nothing past my right shoulder,
When your body was in that suit of armor,
And we no longer saw our father,
I've regretted what I've done to you,
And all that I've put you through.
As I set off to become a state alchemist,
You are always such an optimist,
Dreaming about that which we have sworn,
To get back the bodies with which we were born.
We fought together, side by side,
To protect what was right, and protect it with pride.
We never backed down from a challenge we faced
That met us on our journey toward the destiny we chased.
No matter where we were, we stuck together,
Even in the most inclement weather.
Even when you wanted to keep that cat,
And I wouldn't let you do that,
We still came out as best friends,
With whom this friendship never ends.
As I traveled with you across the country,
Expanding our alchemic ability,
And meeting new friends at every turn,
And getting closer with everything we learn.
No matter where we go or what we do,
And after all that we've been through,
Brother, I love you.
